BABY BOOMERS UNITED!
Short and sweet this month. I’m a baby boomer and am proud of it. But who are we? What do we know about ourselves? Here’s some information courtesy of the AARP which I’m sure you will find interesting.
Boomers are people born between 1946 and 1964.
There are approximately 96 million boomers.
A boomer turns 50 every seven seconds.
There will be 8,000 boomers turning 65 each day.
The biggest year the boom was 1957 when 4.3 million boomers were born.
Boomers define “old-age” (seniors) as 80 years old.
Boomers have an annual spending power in excess of $2 trillion dollars.
72% of boomers plan to keep working past the classic retirement age of 65 years.
One in four boomers have 18 to 24 year old children who have moved back home.
More than 65 million boomers report spending 10 to 20 hours per week to care for their parents.
All I can say is live for the moment. We earned it.
“Age is a high price to pay for maturity.”
